Job Summary
Under the direction of the Golf Course Superintendent and the Landscape
Operations Manager is responsible for all ornamental and native
landscaping, turf-grass areas and irrigation system throughout the
community. Selects and appropriately applies all pesticides, herbicides
and fertilizers associated with community grounds maintenance.
Accurately records actions and chemicals used. Must be capable of
working independently. Budgetary and record-keeping is necessary.
Job Tasks (Duties)
- Inspects turf, shrub, and other areas around community to determine
pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer needs
- Applies pesticide, herbicide and fertilizer in a safe manner at
appropriate times to maintain excellent condition of community grounds
- Keeps abreast of the latest developments and information in the
industry in order to properly select products, supplies and equipment
necessary to perform efficiently at minimal cost
- Calibrates, operates and maintains spraying and spreading equipment
- Performs preventive maintenance and keeps accurate records on
equipment as needed
- Prunes and waters all native and ornamental landscape materials on
clubhouse grounds
- Attains and maintains Certified Application Specialist licenses as
required
- Performs tasks in compliance with established departmental safety
program for employees, members and guests on course. Maintains safety
records to departmental standards
- Maintains compliance with all local, state and federal laws
pertaining to chemical handling, storage, application and disposal
- Performs small pipe and irrigation head repairs
- Performs other maintenance duties as determined by the Golf Course
Superintendent
Requirements
- Valid Florida Driver's License required
- Valid Florida Commercial Pest Applicator's License required
- Documentable training on Ornamental Horticulture required
